Warfest Shows Presents a Benefit for Pier Records March 14th
at Hogue Barmichaels featuring D.I. and Total Chaos
Event also features 8 other bands and the return of the popular punk rock
fashion show.
Warfest Shows is sponsoring another
charity event in Orange County, this time to benefit Newport Beach's venerated
record store, Pier Records. Located right near the pier at Newport Beach, Pier
Records brings a selection of great vinyl to the area. The store was recently
purchased by a new owner, and Warfest Shows has organized a benefit concert
to help the store restock, renovate and sponsor live shows in spite of the tough
economy. Orange County punk legends, D.I. will headline the show. Led by vocalist
Casey Royer, the band was formed in 1982, and they're still going strong. Their
latest CD, On the Western Front, got rave reviews from Punk Globe and About.com,
and they're appearing on the Warped Tour this year. Hardcore band Total Chaos
is flying in from Germany for this show, and 8 other bands will also perform,
making this show an all-night extravaganza. They'll even be a meet and greet
with the bands after the show. The Pier Records benefit is another in a series
of punk rock charity concerts sponsored by Warfest and Jason Roberts to bring
money to worthy causes around Orange County since 2007.
The Pier Records benefits also return of the punk rock fashion show, with a
debut at last month's benefit for The Sarange Community Church Disabled Kids
program. Pro models and punk girls will be wearing fashions provided by LBZ,
Mohawk Radio, F*ck Cancer, Hardkore Clothing, and others. The models will give
away clothes to lucky audience members. Mohawkradio.com is scheduled to broadcast
the event. Other sponsors include the cancer support group, F*ck Cancer, and
UC Irvine's radio station, KUCI 88.9 FM. Bands from the event will be interviewed
live on the Punk Becomes Eclectic Show Sunday March 8 starting at 7PM. The Punk
Rock Demonstration will also broadcast live from the show.
The last Warfest event, which featured Dr. Know, hit capacity at 7pm! Doors
open for the Pier Records benefit at 4:45 p.m. at Hogue Barmichaels in Newport
Beach. Presale tickets can purchased from the local bands prior to the event.
Remember to buy tickets early as this show will hit capacity!
