New article up on Suite101-Rock Music

It's been 10 years since Kurt Cobain's death, and while the controversy lingers, the music and the memories supercede them. Here are some of my thoughts on the matter.

New article up on Suite101.com-Rock Music
"Wendy O. Williams-Rock's First "Riot Grrrl"

The Plasmatics were shock rock pioneers in the early 1980s. Wendy O. was the queen of onstage debauchery, and to this day, no female rock performer topped her straightforward raunch, Courtney included.

Well, now that we're all recovered from Nipplegate (i.e. the Super Bowl half-time show), let's get back to business.

A new article is up at Suite101.com-the Rock site. Remember that song "Cool Places" that Jane Weidlin did with Sparks? Bet most of you didn't know that band was around loooong before the music video age. A thumbnail history and bio of the band is up at

Also, if you're loyal enough-or maybe just bored enough-to be reading this, here's the scoop on my Feb./ Valentine's Day contest. I'm giving away copies of my last 2 e-books "A Devil In The City Of Angels" (A hot BDSM romance) and "Close, But No Pizza" a collection of edgy urban poetry that is sometimes sexy, sometimes poignant, but always R-rated! Send an e-mail with your name & e-mail addy to jade@jadeblackmore.com with "Valentine's E-Book Giveaway" in the subject line and you'll be entered. Drawing will be Feb. 13th and winner will be notified via e-mail that evening. The winner will receive both e-books!

In Semi-Obscure Media News:

While it is not as exciting as Janet Jackson "accidentally" exposing her designer nipple jewelry to the world, the Brits now are ga-ga over the
former Johnny Rotten (that's John Lydon to you, Mr.) quitting the UK version of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!" in mid-jungle. Despite being the bookie favorite to win the show. Johnny has walked off, but he did manage to live up to some of his old tricks while there, including, but not limited to:
using the phrase "f****ng c***ts" live on the air; insulting 32FF pin-up girl Jordan, also a contestant on the show; and spilling the beans about a bandmate's alleged liposuction. The Brit papers are scrambling to get interviews and sales of NMTB are up 150%. Old punkers may not agree with John's new career (if you can call it that)
M.O., but ya gotta admit he's still a big pain in the arse who knows how to keep things interesting.

There is a new book review under "Non-Fiction." "The Pyrotechnic Insanitarium" was released in 1999 and contains essays about America's decline into weirdness. 5 years later, it's truer than ever.

Happy 2004 everyone! Hope all your dreams come true. The year is
rolling off to a good start around here. First, I'll be expanding the weblog to include more detail about my daily exploits. A few people have remarked that I have an "interesting" life and that I should keep a diary. Not that it's been so interesting lately, since all I've done is write, surf the Internet and hobble around on a cane and/or crutches for the past 3 months. I can still get into trouble on the Internet, though. A few examples-

I'm a featured author on TRS Blue this month. Go to the home page of this site for more info. I'll be giving away a grab-bag of thongs or panties from Trashy Lingerie in conjunction with the feature.

The latest Hollywood & Beyond column is up on Rock Confidential. Good riddance to 2003 and CD reviews of the Prey For Rock 'n' Roll soundtrack, the Alarm, the Sounds and Diabla. You can't miss it--it provided Jesse with an good excuse to put the Britney/Madonna kiss pic up on the home page!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone-don't eat too much turkey!! Actually, I'm partial to pumpkin pie myself. Troy cooked a delicious feast including his special green bean and fried onion casserole. Yum yum!

An excerpt from "Babel" is up on the fiction page. It's a novel about the trials and tribulations of four friends who meet at
UCLA in the 1960s and manage to maintain their friendship despite drug abuse, failed businesses, professional jealousy, sleazy Hollywood mind games and a serial killer boyfriend!

eXtasy Books is sponsoring their first "Foreplay Friday" tomorrow, which will feature excerpts from upcoming eXtasy releases and prizes such as free e-books and jewelry. Go to www.extasybooks.com and click on the Chatters link.
